An Apple A Day!

Fall is upon us and I’m looking forward to many trips to the market for fresh apples. Apples are so yummy fresh picked, and such a healthy snack. Just as a reminder to all my foodie friends that the old adage “an apple a day keep’s the doctor away” is right on. We often forget about how beneficial apples can be and we could fill a whole page.

Here are four health benefits of an apple.

1. Nutrition – apples are packed with soluble fiber, a good source of immune-boosting vitamin C.
2. Weight Loss – For very few calories apples will satisfy hunger, so they can easily be part of a healthy diet.
3. Heart Healthy – Many studies have proven that eating apples will lower the risk of heart disease. Experts give credit for the benefits to antioxidant compounds found in apples, which help prevent LDL cholesterol from oxidizing and inhibit inflammation.
4. Exercise longer – Apples have a antioxidant called quercetin, which gives us more endurance by making oxygen more available to the lungs.
